Nugal Durrung

2 Carved Cypress wood large leaf forms with indigenous painterly marks.

‘Nugal Durrung’ presents the benefits of working together, respecting culture and seeking solace and inspiration in the natural world. On one side, these sculptures display pattern and texture revealing a window into a trees history, structure and growth. On the other, we are invited to see Aboriginal people’s harmonious and spiritual connection with country. Look carefully and you can see, homes nestled along the Birrarung (Yarra River) and song lines leading to sacred sites, where lore and knowledge are passed on from one generation to the next.
