Inge King
FeatureA BIG Sculpture and Linden New Art collaboration.
- Dec 15th - Jan 19th
For this first iteration of the BIG Sculpture St Kilda Trail, we are delighted to present the work of 20 contemporary Australian sculptors. These works will be positioned on the Upper Esplanade and in the historic and leafy streets, parks, and plazas of St Kilda.
The Trail addresses just a small fraction of the creative panorama that is Australian sculpture today. However, this fraction expands into an important creative and chronological context via a wonderful opportunity we have been given.
In collaboration with Linden New Art, BIG Sculpture is privileged to present three sculptures by Inge King AO 1915-2016. Inge King, one of Australia’s most celebrated artists, significantly informs and helps define the modern Australian sculptural canon.
We are thrilled to have this opportunity and wish to extend our thanks to the estate of Inge King. We also hope, and intend, that featuring giants from the past will serve to direct our curation of future BIG Sculpture St Kilda Trails. In so doing, we will establish the BIG Sculpture St Kilda Trail as a new and unique addition to the calendar of major outdoor sculpture exhibitions in Australia.
