About Us
Welcome to BIG Sculpture, where art and community meet in the heart of St Kilda! Following the success of the 2019 and 2022 BIG Sculpture St Kilda Biennales, which showcased the largest outdoor sculpture exhibitions and competitions in metropolitan Melbourne, we are excited to announce the expansion of our vision.
Introducing the BIG Sculpture St Kilda Trail 2024-25, a captivating walking trail featuring 21 contemporary large-scale sculptures, exhibited in our very own world-famous tourist destination.
We have curated the trail so that each wonderful sculpture sits perfectly in its place.
Part of our curatorial intention for the trail route, is to highlight the rich historical and cultural significance of St Kilda, its unique architecture, and its natural beauty. Visitors will not only discover remarkable art but also local spots to play, rest, eat, and drink.
With an estimated walking and viewing time of 60 minutes, the St Kilda Sculpture Trail begins at the Acland St Plaza (Tram Terminus) and forms a loop that engages with vibrant local business precincts along Acland Street and beyond. Visitors can choose a user-friendly digital map on the BIG Sculpture website, accessed via a QR Code, or a hard copy paper version. Navigating the trail is both enjoyable and informative.
As you walk the trail you’ll enjoy the bubbly Acland Street atmosphere, stroll the quiet, leafy streets, and contemplate panoramic Bay views. This what makes the Big Sculpture St Kilda Trail unique. The trail culminates in the serene and fertile beauty of the St Kilda Community Gardens which offer a perfect setting to relax and reflect on your artistic journey.
Join us in celebrating and discussing creativity as you experience the BIG Sculpture Trail—where art meets the streets of St Kilda!
