David Waters studied Bachelor of Arts- Sculpture at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Whilst undertaking Post Graduate studies at Victorian College of the Arts, he employed intuitive decisions to manipulate relationships between form and surface whilst maintaining sculptural continuity.
In the early 1990’s he devoted intensive time to his arts practice, mainly leadlights and carving stone, employing a punk ethos to use what was at hand and readily available and beginning a period of carving foam rubber.
For the past decade he has had a parallel life as a restoration stonemason.
