Mark Stoner, I-STONE

Mark Stoner

I-STONE
Two Large carved abstract Chinese alabaster blocks

This work explores the contrast between the brutal mass and weight of the stone block, and the sensitivity of its grain, the visible strata and its crystalline nature. The worked block reveals the geological markers reflected in the exposed layers and the softly shifting tones of ice-like translucent stone.
